LAS CRUCES — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Deming Station in New Mexico apprehended a convicted kidnapper shortly after her illegal entry into the United States, according to a news release.

Late Monday evening, Border Patrol agents working west of the Columbus, N.M., Port of Entry encountered three subjects entering the U.S. illegally. Using the Integrated Automated Identification System (IAFIS), and other databases, a female subject from the group was identified as Blanca Yesenia Garcia-Recinos, a 24-year-old Guatemalan national.

The subject's biometric information revealed prior arrests, which led to felony convictions, including kidnapping, burglary and aggravated assault in 2009. Garcia-Recinos was previously removed from the U.S. in May and June 2011.

Garcia-Recinos was being held at the Luna County Detention Facility, pending criminal prosecution for illegal re-entry and eventual removal from the United States.
