LAS CRUCES - Two felons, including a convicted sex offender, were arrested in separate incidents by El Paso sector Border Patrol agents this week.

Fresh footprints heading north from the international boundary were discovered by agents in Lordsburg, N.M., on Monday. Agents followed the trail half a mile north of N.M. Highway 80 and allegedly found a man hiding under some brush, wearing shoes that matched the prints being tracked.

Jesus Guillen-Duran was arrested for entering the country without inspection. His criminal record included an "extensive" history, according to the Border Patrol, including a conviction for aggravated assault in 1998, a conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2006 and a prior deportation from the country.

And Wednesday afternoon, agents on bike patrol in Tornillo, Texas, about two hours from Las Cruces, encountered a man they described as "suspicious," who "readily admitted to being a citizen of Mexico ... not in possession of any documents to be in or remain in the United States." Jose Guillermo Carrillo-Moreno, 54, who was convicted in 1993 for sexual assault, had already been deported from the country once before, according to Border Patrol.
