Durbin weighs in on immigration

PEORIA -- Nationwide, immigration is still a hot topic.

After a weeklong recess, the U.S. Senate will weigh the immigration bill President Bush supports.

Among other things, the bill would toughen border security, but also give quick legal status to the estimated 12 million immigrants who are in the country illegally.

Senator Dick Durbin favors a harsher approach to illegal immigration.

"800,000 people a year come in the United States illegally. That has to stop, and so we've got to change the laws -- tougher border enforcement, tougher work place enforcement, dealing with those who are here in a firm but fair manner. Let them earn their way into legal status, but it will take them a long time -- they go to the back of the line,â€

(I laugh to keep from crying)

Can you believe this goofball? One of the biggest supporters of amnesty is NOW talking tough to deflect a little bit of the heat the U.S. Senate is receiving over the compromise amnesty bill. Don't let him fool you, he'll be one of the first ones to vote in support of the bill. Actually, he's probably the biggest pusher of the Dream Act (in-state college tuition) that is contained in the bill.

As an Illinoisan I'm going to contact him this week and hold him to these words!!

It shows that they"do" know what needs to be done.
All of this could be done without a Bill.

Don't waste your time fedupI wrote to him way back when the Elvira debacle became public and he responded by back peddaling and stating that Yes he and Obama helped her once but when the deportation order became final they backed away from her cause.

He ended by inviting me and my family to visit him and Obama in Washington for donuts and coffee. I respectfully declined and let him know that neither he nor Obama were worthy of my time or vote.
