Tell Congress Members Abercrombie and Hirono to Defend Border Agents by Signing HR 563

House Resolution 563, pending in Congress, pardons former border patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were recently sentenced to 12 years in prison for doing their job and protecting our border.

They were in pursuit of an illegal immigrant drug-smuggler who was fleeing in his van, which was full of more than 700 pounds of marijuana.

It turned into a chase on foot. One agent fell to the ground while trying to stop the drug smuggler and subsequently opened fire on the smuggler. The other agent thought he saw a gun in the drug smuggler’s hand and fired at him too. The man made it over the border and escaped, but over a month later, claimed he was shot.

Subsequently, American taxpayers were forced to pay for the drug smuggler’s medical expenses, and he is now suing the U.S. government for $5 million. The agents were charged criminally, convicted and have already begun their 12-year prison sentences.

Many of the people across America who have heard their story believe these men are patriots, not criminals. There is a nation-wide campaign to get them pardoned.

Please tell Hawaii's Congress Members Neil Abercrombie and Mazie Hirono to co-sponsor bill HR 563, which does just that.

Also, there are nationwide sign holding rallies every weekend around the nation starting in February. Hawaii's day is February 10th at noon for one hour. Please join us at the intersection of Kapahulu Avenue and Kalakaua avenues (on the beach side). Bring signs in support of the agents.
