Border rancher's state lease renewed despite protests
TUCSON, Ariz. Arizona State Land Department officials have renewed a grazing lease for a rancher, known for detaining illegal immigrants.
The department acted despite requests from the Border Action Network and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund not to renew Roger Barnett's lease for ten more years.
They say he's engaged in vigilante actions near the Mexican border.
A deputy land commissioner says any violation and the lease will be terminated.
Barnett is the target of three pending lawsuits.
One suit filed by Mexican-American citizens from Douglas claim Barnett threatened them and their children with a weapon as they crossed his state lands to hunt on it with state-issued permits.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
