Brackettville Border Patrol Agents Arrest Gang Member

BRACKETTVILLE, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville Station arrested a known Sureños gang member, Sept. 13.

Agents arrested Edson Jimenez-Chaires, a 31-year-old man from Mexico, shortly after he illegally entered the United States near Brackettville.

Through record checks, agents discovered that Jimenez-Chaires is a confirmed Sureños gang member, with a criminal record that includes theft of property in Houston. Jimenez-Chaires was most recently removed from the United States in September of 2019.

Sureños is a violent, transnational criminal organization with members throughout the United States.
Jimenez-Chaires faces a charge of 8 USC 1326 – re-entry of removed aliens, which carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison.

We should not be paying for Mexico's criminals in our jails.
