I wonder if they do round trips?? Maybe I could get a job escorting a few of them home, and stay over for a week, or so.

The only way this was going to work was if the U.S. Congress passed a law that gave all illegal aliens under a deporation order an automatic 3-5 years in prison if they didn't come forward within 90 days for deportation. The way things stand now, they really had no reason to come forward because their was no real incentive (giving 90 days to get their things in order is not an incentive). The guarantee of 3-5 if caught after the 90-day deadline is incentive. Right now there is no real difference in whether you turn yourself in or get caught, either way it still only means deporation.

I like your incentive better MW than our gov's non-incentive to come forward! Either come forward now of your on volition, or risk a mandatory 2-5 WHEN we catch you! Why does our government continue to play nice guy with these criminals!

I agree there should be an "or else" NoBueno, but on the other hand, right from the start, I've had a feeling there is more to this than meets the eye.

To me, this sounds like they may have something planned and this was a way to cancel out the criticisms and outrages of the pro-illegals like we've seen with Postville and every other enforcement action.

Kind of a "Hey, we gave these people a chance to turn themselves in and they didn't do it so too bad for them"

You're right AZ, I think they did this to appease the IA lovers who whined that the we were separating families and were being "inhumane" Waaah- waaahh. Well, we made them an offer, not our problem they refuse it. Enforcement WILL continue, because it actually WORKS!

    "Start with the churches"

Yeah, then move right in on:

    Day labor shelters

    Food Banks

    Western Union

    Checking Cashing Stores

    Cell Phone Stores

    Maternity Wards

    Utility Pay Cash Windows

    Walmart on Friday Night

    Check all others "shadows".

Yes, it could get interesting, couldn't it?

The main thing that made me wonder about this was the limited scope. Only 5 cities for a period of a few weeks It just seems like this would have to be an open ended offer applicable in all locations.

There were a couple of other things, but that was the biggie
