I think not only a sit-in at the Winston-Salem office is in order, but a general APB to encourage every single voter to visit their local district office to "touch base" with the Senator or his staff on Thursday.

A protest would require a permit in most cases, but a "personal visit" by voters to insure continuity of their wishes into the Washington office of their elected official would be acceptable. No handbills, no signs, no chanting, just an orderly flow of bodies to and from the offices would suffice. Maybe hand-deliver a statement to the effect that another "Yes" vote on cloture would lead to a new title next election....like say, Former Senator Burr? Wouldn't the staff (and more importantly the local news media) go nuts over that? A little press coverage would go a long way, and surely most anyone could spare an hour or two to just drop by to say, "Thanks so much for not supporting my wishes"! There appears to be a number of satellite offices around the state. Even if they aren't staffed an endless group of folks walking up and looking in would be noticed and discussed by others...This would be particularily useful in every state that is represented by "flipables", and would reinforce the message to those who openly support the amnesty bill as well!

After all, they can avoid phone calls and toss faxes, but a personal visit from a polite yet stern constituent will go on the record (and rather quickly too I imagine). I know I would feel a lot more discomfort from a personal visit than I would negative mail from an otherwise anonymous person who may not even be affiliated with me in reality.

Anybody think it is worth the effort? William???
