(Tuesday, March 03, 2009)
Laredo, Texas – While conducting outbound inspections yesterday at the Laredo port of entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted a cache of weapons destined for Mexico. The foiled attempt resulted in the arrest of an Oklahoma man.
Yesterday afternoon, CBP officers were conducting outbound inspections of vehicles at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge when they referred Abram Josiah Sprenger, a 30-year-old, U.S. citizen from Bixby, Okla., who was driving a 1996 Ford F-150 pickup truck for inspection.
CBP officers obtained a negative declaration for firearms, ammunition, and any monetary instruments in excess of $10,000 from Sprenger and initiated an inspection. The vehicle was selected for a non-intrusive exam. An x-ray scan of the vehicle revealed anomalies within the side panels of the truck bed. CBP currency/weapons detector canine, “Akimâ€NO AMNESTY
