NEWPORT BEACH – A Canadian man is due to be arraigned later this month on charges of possessing 92 kilograms of cocaine.

Jean-Francois Gosselin, 34, of Mascouche, Quebec, was arrested Jan. 20 in his mobile home at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort.

Gosselin has been charged with possession of drugs with intent to sell, and if he's convicted, would face an additional penalty for having more than 80 kilograms.

Officers from the Orange County Regional Narcotics Suppression Program served a warrant on Gosselin's motor home and found 92 individually wrapped packages of cocaine, each weighing a kilogram, or a little more than 200 pounds in all, police said.

Police said that the cocaine had a retail street value of around $19 million, which would come out to more than $200 per gram.

Gosselin is being held in Orange County Jail without bail, according to booking records. His arraignment has been scheduled for Feb. 25.
