A 19-year old Castaic gang member is behind bars facing a second deportation after being questioned by deputies in Canyon Country on Tuesday.

Jorge Cervantes was arrested after deputies stopped him midday near Whites Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road and found a fully-loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his waistband.

Because of his gang history, Cervantes was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a loaded and concealed firearm by a gang member; possession of a firearm registered to another person and active participation in a known street gang.

Cervantes was back in the country illegally, having been arrested and deported after the multi-agency Operation Community Shield team took 13 gang members and juvenile offenders off the streets during a targeted gang sweep in May. Along with the current charges, Cervantes also faces federal charges and is being held without bail by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
