A Novato man was charged with molesting a 13-year-old San Rafael girl while he was on a remodeling job at her family's home.

Luis Alfredo Flores, 31, is facing charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and lewd acts on a child, the district attorney's office said. He is being held at the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The investigation began last month, when the girl's mother reported that her daughter might have been molested. The alleged crime occurred in October, when the company that employed Flores was doing work at the home, said sheriff's Lt. Jamie Scardina.

Flores was arrested last week at an apartment on Los Robles Road in Ignacio. He is scheduled to be arraigned April 25.

Flores is already on probation for conviction in November, when he pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance.

In addition to the sex case, Flores is being detained on a DUI-related warrant and a no-bail federal immigration hold.
