CA: Sac County Working To Deport Criminal Aliens

Sac County Working To Deport Criminal Aliens
    SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) ―

If you're a criminal and you're not entitled to be in the United States, new Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano wants you out of the country. And Sacramento County is working to do just that.

Last week, Napolitano said she wants what she calls "criminal aliens" off American streets. She wants to improve data-sharing among local, state and federal facilities. And the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are doing it now.

Today, ICE investigators are conducting interview with alien inmates at the Sacramento County Main Jail with the aim of identifying those criminals who should be deported immediately after their sentence is served.

About 113,000 criminals who were in the U.S. illegally were deported last year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said. The agency estimates there are now as many as 450,000 criminals in federal, state and local detention centers who are in the country illegally. More than 27,000 'criminal aliens' were identified in Northern California last year.

I am happy to see all the links today of stories of ICE going after criminal IAs but I suspect that somehow this will be used against us. Something on the order of "We are actively going after the criminals but those without a record deserve amnesty."
