San Francisco sent juvenile offenders to SoCal
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- Dozens of juvenile criminals have been shipped to San Bernardino County as part of San Francisco's sanctuary city policy designed to shield the minors from deportation.
Local officials weren't notified the 28 juvenile offenders were placed in San Bernardino County group homes in the past two years, assistant probation chief Michelle Scray said.
Eleven of the juveniles were illegal immigrants and all but one walked away from the group homes.
County officials demanded the tally after it was learned five Honduran youths convicted of drug dealing in San Francisco walked away from a Yucaipa group home in June.
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom recently reversed the city's relocation policy and said juvenile criminals would be turned over to federal immigration authorities.
