The live-in boyfriend of a San Rafael woman has been arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse of the woman’s 12-year-old daughter over a two-year period in Novato, police said Thursday.

Osbin Ermidio Deleon, 38, was arrested by San Rafael police at the woman’s residence in the Canal Area at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday after the woman told Novato police Monday night what her daughter had told her about alleged ongoing molestation, Novato police Lt. John McCarthy said.

All the incidents the girl described happened in Novato, he said. Investigating officers could not locate the suspect and a temporary warrant for his arrest was issued.

Deleon was arrested on seven felony counts and was being held on $150,000 bail at the Marin County Jail. Among the counts are continuous sexual abuse of a child, sodomy of a person under 14 years of age with an age differential of 10 years or more and four counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. Also, Deleon is on a felony hold to have his immigration status checked.

McCarthy urged parents to have frank discussions with their children on a regular basis to stay clued in on what’s happening in their lives.

“If that works, something like this doesn’t go on for two years,â€
