Teen from Mexico dies of rabies in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA – A 16-year-old boy died from rabies two days after he came to this Central Coast town from Mexico, public health officials said Friday.
The teen, whose name was not released, went to a hospital Tuesday with symptoms that included delirium, hypersalivation and difficulty swallowing, said Dr. Elliot Schulman, the Santa Barbara County public health director.
