08-23-2008, 06:22 PM #11A community meeting held in spanish?Officers were surprised to find the meeting would be in Spanish, but he had Aleman, who is bilingual, at his side translating for him, Bozoich said.
No wonder the meeting got out of control, it was full of spanish speaking hot headed trouble makers. To follow the law by having licenses at checkpoints is racist? Why?

They need to go down to the local DMV and get one of their drivers handbooks and open it to the first page, it will tell them that "driving is a privilege not a right!"

5 arrested at sobriety checkpoint in San Rafael, CA
Jim Staats
Article Launched: 08/23/2008 05:03:09 PM PDT
San Rafael police arrested two motorists on suspicion of drunken driving and cited 16 unlicensed drivers in a sobriety checkpoint near the Canal neighborhood this weekend.
Five people were booked into jail, including an apparently intoxicated pedestrian who wandered into the checkpoint area.
The checkpoint began about 6:30 p.m. Friday, and by the time it ended about 2 a.m. Saturday, police had screened 1,726 vehicles, and waved through another 77 cars.
Two were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, while another driver was arrested for a suspended license. In addition, a passenger was booked on suspicion of being drunk in public, according to Lori Coen of the San Rafael police.
Sixteen drivers were cited for driving without a license. Seventeen cars were towed, including 15 that were impounded.
Coen said an intoxicated man on foot was arrested in an incident unrelated to the checkpoint.
"He was not in a vehicle, but he was causing a problem in the area of the checkpoint," she said. She did not have specifics on the incident.
The checkpoint, set up at Andersen Drive and Gary Place near the Marin Square shopping center, was the latest in a series of crackdowns on drunken and unlicensed drivers.
Some have criticized the program, saying it unfairly targets illegal immigrants. Others have thrown their support behind it, saying the laws should apply to everyone, everywhere.
Police said Friday's checkpoint was the second of three this summer that must take place before Sept. 30 under terms of a state grant.
The checkpoints are funded by a $378,000 traffic enforcement grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
