NAACP calls for peace after officer's death, threats to LULAC
12:36 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 26, 2006
From 11 News Staff Reports
The Houston chapter of the NAACP is calling for an end to what they say have been violent threats against LULAC.
It said the threats stem from a local radio talk show, following the death of a Houston police officer, allegedly at the hands of an illegal immigrant.
Tuesday that officer’s widow stood with LULAC.
“Please stop the violence” said Jocelyn Johnson, Officer Rodney Johnson’s widow. "It's not going to resolve anything. It's not going to bring him back. All it does is divide our city and our people. I don't want it. My family doesn't want it and Rodney wouldn't want it."
Officer Johnson was killed Thursday while trying to arrest Juan Leonardo Quintero.
Authorities said that even though Quintero was handcuffed in back of a patrol car, he managed to pull a concealed weapon and shoot Johnson four times.
After listening to calls made to LULAC, the FBI has decided not to open a formal investigation, but to continue monitoring the situation.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn

Sounds like LULAC is exaggerating the threats if there really are any significant calls. Sounds like they don't like hearing what people are saying. Illegal aliens kill Americans every day. Have they been threatened, with the truth of the matter? Reality is a scary thing. Illegals kill 25 Americans every day.
Why is LULAC troubling a grieving widow with their problems? Shame on you LULAC, shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is political BS of LULAC playing the victim. If anyone's civil rights were threatened the FBI would be all over this. The FBI has reviewed it, deemed it political, and backed off.

They figured if the widow could stand there with the LULAC and seem all forgiving, then the American people will do the same.
It's a bunch of BULL.
They will do anything to support their cause, including dragging a greiving widow into their mess.

09-26-2006, 05:53 PM #8Rick Dovalina, LULAC's district director in Houston, said threatening calls were received at the group's Houston office after a talk show host urged his listeners to contact the civil rights group.
"We stand for justice," he said. "We will not lift one finger to defend this individual if he is found guilty."

Richard, good job man. In the process of all this posturing going on by the Pro-illegals, Rodney Johnson, son, husband, father, brother, good friend, partner, and good cop is in danger of being lost. He put his life on the line, he is a hero, that is the most important thing we should remember! I will offer a prayer for him, and for his family tonight.
Build the dam fence post haste!

Activist group receives threatening calls from radio listeners
Radio talk show host urged action
By Gene Apodaca
(9/26/06 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - The man accused of killing HPD Officer Rodney Johnson -- 32-year-old Juan Quintero -- is an undocumented worker and shouldn't have even been in the United States. That has led to some taking aim at a local immigrants' rights group -- the League of United Latin American Citizens.
On Friday's Chris Baker Show on KTRH, the host criticized LULAC for not including Officer Johnson's name on a press release. What came out of that criticism has turned into quite a controversy that even Johnson's widow finds herself in the middle of.
Joslyn Johnson said only a few words at a news conference on Tuesday.
She said, "I felt compelled to come. It's in reference to my husband's death so I felt I needed to be here."
But Joslyn's message was loud and clear.
"Please stop the violence," Joslyn pleaded. "My husband would not want this. I don't want this. It's not going to resolve anything. It's not going to bring him back."
Houston Police Officer Rodney Johnson was killed Thursday. He was shot in the head during a routine traffic stop. The case is drawing national attention, after it was learned the suspect was an illegal immigrant.
A day after the murder, KTRH talk show host Chris Baker addressed the issue, urging his listeners to speak their minds about actions and inactions surrounding the death. But LULAC claims listeners did more than that. A 24-year-old receptionist who doesn't want to be identified took most the calls.
She told Eyewitness News, "The one that got me scared is the one -- the man said he was going to come and kick my a** and then shoot me."
"We can't let these talk show hosts divide us," said Rick Dovalina with LULAC. "It is imperative that we keep focus, that we grieve together."
In a statement from KTRH, the radio station's program director says, "At no time did Chris Baker encourage his listeners to incite or threaten violence. ... While our hosts are free to express their personal opinions about issues and events, KTRH does not take editorial positions."Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
