Catering To Mexico On Immigration

In the increasingly heated battle against illegal immigration, it is ironic that U.S. officials seem most concerned with appeasing Mexico rather than their own citizens, who overwhelmingly support controlling the situation.

The latest evidence is in President George W. Bush’s urgent apology to his Mexican counterpart regarding the deployment of National Guard troops along the nation’s southern border. Bush immediately reassured Vicente Fox that Mexico is a friend and the move is temporary and does not amount to militarization of the border.

Two other major incidents help illustrate just how much the U.S. is catering to Mexico regarding illegal immigration. Just last week, a Southern California newspaper reported that the U.S. Government regularly informs Mexican officials where Minuteman civilian patrols are stationed along the U.S.-Mexican border. The Mexican government’s secretary of foreign relations even has a web site that brags about how the U.S. Border Patrol notifies the Mexican government as to the location of civilian border patrol groups. U.S. officials admit it is true.

In January the same newspaper published a map and chart, along with a lengthy article detailing incursions by Mexican military and police into the United States. The violent incidents of armed confrontations feature U.S. citizens and law enforcement under fire by uniformed Mexicans. More than 200 of these dangerous Mexican military invasions have occurred in the last nine years to help drugs and human smugglers cross into the U.S. safely, yet officials continue to dismiss the incidents.

In fact, after this year’s widely reported incursion at the Texas-Mexico border, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said that the reports of Mexican soldiers frequently crossing onto U.S. soil were overblown. When a media outlet provided evidence of the most recent incursion, Chertoff said that many of them are innocent mistakes.

U.S. Border Patrol statistics speak for themselves. The El Centro sector, which covers southeastern California, recorded 58 incursions since 1996, followed by Tucson, Arizona (39), El Paso, Texas (33) and McAllen, Texas (2.

Desert Invasion makes an interesting point in saying that the most powerful nation on earth lacks the political will to protect its own borders. A Certain Slant of Light asks a great question; isn’t it about time America holds Mexico accountable?

Is it not ironic that Mr. Bush could stand up to and defeat Iraq thousands of miles away, but when it comes to Mexico which has actually committed acts of war against the United States by having its military forces enter under arms and without permission? The administration may try to excuse the Mexican military by saying it mistakenly crossed the border, and this might be so on occasion, but is not believeable when there are over 200 incursions, some of which have involved acts of violence against US citizens.

Your assessment is 100% correct. I too always wonder why Mexico is so important. I can't figure out the disconnect. Do they have something we need? How can we stop the voter fraud? Are there any judges who will side with us,the American citizens? I'm sick and tired of Mexico's blatant disregard for their own people and exporting them here. What kind of world will it be in 20 years. Someone has to wake up the senate. Thank you

When the French needed money, they sold us the Louisiana Purchase. When Russia needed money, they sold us Alaska. Now that Mexico needs us to absorb more than 15 million of their poorest with many more promised to come, shouldn't they be offering up some territory in exchange? Shouldn't all options be discussed? So why isn't the option of a transfer of Mexican territory to the United States ever discussed? Baja California Sur, Baja California Norte, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Sinaloa, Durango, Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Campeche, Chiapas and Tabasco would be a fair exchange for us granting citizenship to those we absorb. The United States becomes both the Northern and Southern neighbor of Mexico. English becomes dominant. Prosperity for Mexico as the corridor between the northern and southern territories of the United States is assured. Everybody wins. We get workers, social security, plentiful warm weather under the umbrella of an American justice system, Mexico gets order, affluence, and relief from a tremendous liability they're unprepared to have return. The United States government holds all the best cards. Odd that they act otherwise.

We have terrible problems with the illegal people from Mexico, and it will be worse. Is our President afraid of Fox, and why? It is not the question that we have 11 mio illegal Mexicans in the USA. The problem is, what will the US government do about it. The way I see it, Mr. Bush has no stand regarding the illegals. If he does not change his mindset, such a weak government will ruin America. If some politicians are already pandering to this illegal immigration, just wait. You aint seen anything yet. When these illegals (and their children and parents) become a large LEGAL voting block, they will have politicians licking their boots. Bush is destroying this country by clearly favoring open borders.

I remember a speech Bush made around a year ago before this issue became as hot as it is now and before the US citizens expressed their outrage. In that speech, Bush sided with the illegal immigrants. Bush responded to criticism of illegal immigration by saying, “I call that discrimination”. I don’t understand why this is not treason in the oval office. I don’t understand why Bush is not impeached “el pronto” and run out of town. That’s the kind of fast track I like. Once this huge immigration takes place, the country as we knew it growing up will be destroyed. Once the genie is out of the bottle, it cannot be put back in. The only time it can be stopped is now. Another stupid policy is granting citizenship to anchor babies.

There should NOT be comprehensive legislation. Here’s what we should do:

Step one: Seal the border. Build a wall like Israel did or rush our Army to the border - whatever it takes. Bend the law or make a law. Just do what it takes and do it now. This must be done first so the problem doesn’t get any worse.

Step two: Pass a law to stop granting automatic citizenship to anchor babies.

Step three: Impeach Bush for treason. Nothing long and drawn out, just get rid of him fast.

Step four: Create a fool proof social security NUMBER and identification. Then jail or hang employers who hire illegals. Never mind the jail, just hang em, this is serious.

Step five: Hunt down and deport all illegal aliens. Start by examining video of those parades and marches.

Step six: Punish any politician that lied to us and helped create this problem.

Bush didn't offer a plan, just a hasty PR campaign that stretches our already overwhemled National Guard to the border--this from a man who got away with doing very little when he was in the Guard. Ironically, after the president's speech, Karl Rove said the administration is doing a "heck of a job" on immigration. where have we heard that before?
