This reminds me of an old video from May 2006:
http://www.fulldisclosure.net/flash/Vid ... Blog29.php
A Catholicism expert expresses his opinion that Cardinal Mahoney's position on immigration is mis-guided. This expert makes good sense.

other charities
Other recommended organizations for donations are Catholic Relief Services http://www.catholicrelief.org/ an organization which helps people in other countries become self-sufficient instead of sending them to the USA. Only 7% of the donations go to overhead. If you are interested more in spiritual than corporeal matters check out http://www.tfp.org/

Father Bascio has written an excellent book - I've got a copy and have turned pages down, made notes in the margins, noted page numbers inside the back cover.....it's a great fact resource too (without 'preaching'), especially in trying to educate others about illegal immigration overall. And he doesn't just blame the Catholic church, but also the mindset of many churches overall.....

I say it's time to start taxing churches that get involved with politics. They have no business in it.
Cayla99, that is a wonderful thing to do. I wish more people would do that instead of tithing. I drive by a church in a rich part of town full of BMW's and Mercedes and the building itself had to have cost at least $20 million to build. And to think, Jesus stood on a stinking rock to preach to the people.Don't think about all the things you fear, just be glad you're here.
