This reminds me of an old video from May 2006:

A Catholicism expert expresses his opinion that Cardinal Mahoney's position on immigration is mis-guided. This expert makes good sense.

Oh I am still going but now put articles about the costs of illegal aliens in the collection envelope.
What a fabulous idea! I wish I was still going so I could do that.

    You rock!

Well my Pastor is a pretty good guy, I like his sermons he is like this other Priest, it's the Bishops who are corrupted and that is who donation money goes to. I help out my local church other ways.

Right on, Bowman! This is one reason why I stopped tithing to the church and felt guilty for that and then eventually stopped going.
Many years ago some friends of mine and I decided to put our tithe in an coffee can, then we used it to help those who really needed it. It cost nothing to maintain, but when we would read of the family who lost everything in a fire, or the baby killed by a drunk driver whose parents could not come up with funeral expenses, we would pull it out and help. We felt this is what God truly wanted tithe money to be used for.
THAT MONEY CAN ALSO BUY FOOD AND HELP OUT OF WORK AMERICANS WHO WANT TO WORK BUT CAN'T FIND EMPLOYMENT BECAUSE, THOSE THAT ARE BEING PANDERED TO ARE THE ONLY ONES BEING HIRED THESE DAYS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE IN GOVERNMENT HERE IN THE U.S.OF A. THEY ARE SEEING TO THE NEEDS OF THOSE WHO ARE HERE ILLEGALLY INSTEAD OF TAKING CARE OF THEIR OWN.

    other charities

Other recommended organizations for donations are Catholic Relief Services http://www.catholicrelief.org/ an organization which helps people in other countries become self-sufficient instead of sending them to the USA. Only 7% of the donations go to overhead. If you are interested more in spiritual than corporeal matters check out http://www.tfp.org/

Father Bascio has written an excellent book - I've got a copy and have turned pages down, made notes in the margins, noted page numbers inside the back cover.....it's a great fact resource too (without 'preaching'), especially in trying to educate others about illegal immigration overall. And he doesn't just blame the Catholic church, but also the mindset of many churches overall.....

I say it's time to start taxing churches that get involved with politics. They have no business in it.

Cayla99, that is a wonderful thing to do. I wish more people would do that instead of tithing. I drive by a church in a rich part of town full of BMW's and Mercedes and the building itself had to have cost at least $20 million to build. And to think, Jesus stood on a stinking rock to preach to the people.
Don't think about all the things you fear, just be glad you're here.
