    CATO nuts essentially call for open borders

    You won't believe this mindless drivel

    Study urges looser immigrant controls

    WASHINGTON -- Relaxing immigration controls and regularizing illegal immigrants currently in the United States would help secure the country and benefit the economy, according to the free-market Cato Institute. {Say what? Exactly how? It will encourage more illegals to come and it will cost 3 times the amount in tax payer benefits to subsidize them if they are legalized. How is rewarding those who break our laws a benefit to America? How is this going to stop gangs, drugs, criminals and terrorists from coming through if nobody is there to stop them?}

    According to Dan Griswold, Cato's director for trade policy studies, over 1.1 million people were arrested trying to cross the U.S. border illegally in 2004, and more than 10 million illegal immigrants are currently living in the United States -- something seen by many as an Achilles heel for the country's national security. {Probably the only intelligent statement your going to hear out of this clown}

    In testimony before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration earlier this year, senior Homeland Security official Asa Hutchinson said that "Illegal entry across our borders makes more difficult the urgent task of securing the homeland." {Your basing your studies on this clown. LOL, your studies have already been deemed irrelevant and fraudulent. Mr catch and release Asa is the idiot of the century and has no credibility whatsoever}

    "Right now we have no idea who [the illegal immigrants] are, where they are, or what they're doing," affirmed Griswold. {That is a complete lie. The government may not know who they are, but they sure as hell know where to look to find them. It's not like it's rocket science. Anyone with half a brain knows where to look for illegals. Follow the money trail. Search the farms, the meat packing plants, the stores, the construction sites, I mean come on. It's not that hard. Heck I bet you'll find a ton of them at Baldwin Park on Saturday}

    The CATO proposal builds on President George W. Bush's suggestion of a temporary workers program {amnesty} for illegals by outlining a legalization process for undocumented foreigners now living and working in the United States.

    According to the study, the program would include background checks {using the dangerous and worthless Mexican ID of course} to register those living in the United States with temporary visas and allow them to work their way towards a green card and citizenship.

    It says the current policy is broken. {It aint broken, it's just not enforced}

    Funding for border controls is at an all-time high, the study found, but the numbers of apprehensions has not kept pace, which means that the cost of each arrest rose from $300 in 1992, to $1700 in 2002. {Did it ever occur to these idiots that what we pay for border enforcement is a fraction of the cost that we pay for illegal alien tax payer benefits?}

    "Current law itself is fundamentally at odds with the reality of the North American economy," the study reported, pointing out that the demand for cheap labor was in the United States, but most of the supply was south of the Mexican border. {I guess he didn't take a look at the unemployment lines lately}

    According to the study, increased border enforcement merely pushes the illegal immigration flow to remote, desert regions where apprehension is more difficult and the risks to those crossing are greater. {Gee maybe we should complete the building of a sothern border fence, that might help}

    "Not only has the death rate increased at Mexican borders {who cares} ... but the probability of apprehending someone crossing the border is at a 40 year low," said Douglas Massey, author of the study, entitled, "Backfire at the Border: Why Enforcement without Legalization Cannot Stop Illegal Immigration."

    In a speech at the White House in January 2004, President Bush proposed creating a temporary workers program that would grant illegal immigrants a three-year, renewable visa to work in the United States; however, the program may be terminated if the participant does not remain employed or breaks any U.S. law. {yeah right, they couldn't even apprehend, deport or keep track of 19 9-11 hijackers, but they are going to all of a sudden keep track of tens of millions of guest workers?}

    Those already living and working in the United States would pay a one-time registration fee to enter the program and, depending on their success, would later be able to apply for a green card leading to U.S. citizenship. {How about deportation instead}

    "This program will offer legal status, as temporary workers, to the millions of undocumented men and women {invaders/criminals} now employed in the United States, and to those in foreign countries who seek to participate in the program and have been offered employment here," the president said.

    In the 1990's, the United States implemented a program offering temporary visas for foreigners to work in the United States. The document, called H-Visas, bound workers to one job for which they had to have a firm offer before being allowed to come to the United States. {which displaced hundreds of thousands of tech workers in this country}

    There has always been a cap on the number of such visas issued annually, and, despite recent increases in the numbers allowed, demand continues to outstrip supply. {no thanks to corrupt, greedy businesses who put profit before patriotism}

    The study proposes a new temporary work program in which, unlike the holders of H-Visas, workers would get permits and be able to find their own job.

    Whatever the mechanism, the report's authors argue that continued and expanded immigration is key to economic prosperity in the United States. {yeah that's why we are billions of dollars in debt}

    "We don't have an immigration problem," said Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal at a Capitol Hill briefing to launch the study. "We have an immigrant advantage." {the only people who see it that way are the stooges like Steve Moore of the WSJ}

    According to Moore, immigrants are an economic blessing because most locate to the United States when they are between the ages of 18 to 35, at an early stage of their career. "If you look at people as capital investments, workers bring economic benefit." {not if they are displacing the citizenary while driving down the living wages}

    Also, immigrants are not randomly picked to live and work in the United States, said Moore, but are "self-selected on the basis of their ambition, dedication, and ability to take risks." {LOL, just like the visa lottery right? LOL, just like the illegal aliens right? LOL}

    Officials continue to insist the administration is in favor of a temporary workers' program.

    "A temporary workers program would match willing workers with willing employers," said Jarrod Agin, spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security. {Um there is willing workers who are citizens in this country, why aren't employers trying to seek them?}

    Nonetheless, any such proposal is likely to run into a firestorm of opposition on Capitol Hill, where critics charge it is equivalent to an amnesty, which will only encourage more illegal migration. {duh}

    Check out their website. This opens up to their "newsroom". Then you can move around to their other "agendas".

    Now...figure this....they are worried about the Supreme Court Ruling on taking private property, but yet support open borders.

    They are a "libertarian" organization and use the face of Thomas Jefferson as their "symbol" on their site. They also appear to be against Flag Burning...yet.....they are OPEN BORDERS!!

    A FRAUD....a Jeckyl and Hyde!!

    CATO INSTITUTE IS: EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL EVIL!!
