CBP: 48 Pounds Of Cocaine Seized At Border

EL PASO, Texas -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said they confiscated 48.62 pounds of cocaine at an El Paso area port of entry during the weekend.

CBP officers at the Paso Del Norte international crossing said they seized 48.62 pounds of cocaine on Friday from a 41-year-old woman from Juarez. Officers said they found 19 packages concealed in a false floor compartment and rear seat area while inspecting a 2002 Dodge Durango. Lorenza Chavez Santos was arrested. Authorities said she is charged with importation of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Authorities also reported confiscating 712 pounds of marijuana and 104 units of steroids. Copyright 2010 by KFOXTV.com.
