Release Date: May 18, 2022
MISSION, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Anzalduas International Bridge apprehended Isaac Yedid Martinez, a Mexican citizen with an active warrant for kidnapping from Michoacan, Mexico.
“CBP remains vigilant and thoroughly conducts examinations on all persons applying for admission to the U.S.,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas. “Open communication with our Mexican counterparts allows us to work quickly in matters regarding wanted persons, especially when young children are involved.”
CBP officers escort a wanted person at a U.S. port of entry. On May 14, 2022, 42-year-old Isaac Yedid Martinez, a Mexican citizen, arrived from Mexico at the Anzalduas International Bridge. Martinez was traveling with his four- and six-year-old Mexican citizen daughters. CBP officers referred the vehicle for secondary examination and immediately secured the driver after initial checks through national law enforcement databases indicated a possible Interpol warrant for forceful kidnapping. During secondary examination, CBP officers verified Martinez’s identity, citizenship and confirmed an outstanding Interpol warrant out of Michoacan, Mexico for the alleged forceful kidnapping of his daughters.
Mexican officials were contacted, and Amber alert information also was found confirming their identities.
Martinez has been wanted since his wife reported the forceful kidnapping in February of this year. Martinez and the two children were transported to the Hidalgo International Bridge where they were all turned over to Mexican authorities.
Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
