CBP Officers in El Paso Apprehend Man Wanted For Murder

Release Date: July 8, 2020

EL PASO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers working at the Ysleta port of entry Tuesday evening apprehended a man who was being sought in a recent El Paso County murder case.
It was just before 6 p.m. when 52-year-old Sergio Reyna of Mexico arrived at the pedestrian crossing and applied for admission. CBP officers performed a query and received an NCIC alert for an active homicide warrant.

CBP officers confirmed the warrant and took custody of the man. He was then turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s office for processing.

“CBP officers routinely identify and take into custody wanted people while they are performing their primary homeland security mission,” said CBP El Paso Director of Field Operations Hector Mancha. “Every day we are working to keep our community and our nation safe.”

In addition to the murder warrant arrest area CBP officers on Tuesday also apprehended three other wanted individuals, made two drug seizures, intercepted unreported currency, made two intellectual property rights seizures and identified two cases or people attempting to cross live plants into the U.S. from Mexico.
