Cedar Park man charged with scamming undocumented workers at local restaurant

CEDAR PARK - Cedar Park man remained in jail Thursday on a complaint that he stole money from undocumented workers at a local Mexican food restaurant who thought they were purchasing legal U.S. documents.

According to the felony complaint filed Wednesday, Marcelino Mejia Sierra approached three workers at Jardin Corona on South Bell and offered to get them legal U.S. documents through a high-ranking official with U.S. Immigrations if they could come up with $2,500 each.

The three workers met Sierra at his home on Aug. 17 and handed him $7,500, the complaint said.

More than three months later, the workers said Sierra has failed to provide the documents and has refused to refund the $2,500 to each worker, and that he had begun avoiding any communication with them.

I am hoping those three aren't about to get 'Vitim Visa's'.
