Center for Immigration Studies: Attrition through Enforcement -- The Only Successful Approach to the Illegal Immigration Crisis

    5/19/2005 3:06:00 PM

    To: Assignment Desk, Daybook Editor

Contact: John Keeley of the Center for Immigration Studies, 202-466-8185 or jmk@cis.org

    News Advisory:

Last week, the McCain/Kennedy amnesty plan was unveiled, a bipartisan effort backed by a coalition of business, labor, and ethnic organizations. Like other immigration proposals, including President Bush's, it is based on a false assumption: Since the federal government can't quickly deport 10 million illegal aliens, the only alternative is legalization, says the Center for Immigration Studies.

According to the CIS, there is a third way, and the only approach that can actually work: Shrink the illegal population through consistent, across-the-board enforcement of the immigration law, reducing the settlement of new illegals and increasing the number of illegals currently here who give up and deport themselves. Such a strategy is implicit in the comments of many opponents of amnesty, but has never been formally articulated.

To outline how such an attrition strategy might work, the Center for Immigration Studies will convene an expert panel, including:

Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies

Gregory Bednarz, Deputy Assistant Commissioner, INS Investigations (retired)

Roy Beck, Executive Director of NumbersUSA

The panel will convene at 9:30 a.m. in the Murrow Room of the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, on Tuesday, May 24. For more information, contact John Keeley of CIS at (202) 466-8185 or jmk@cis.org.

The attrition plan sounds like an obvious consequence of enforcement.

The plan needs to be: enforcement and a Moratorium on new immigrants until we figure out who is telling the truth about labor needs, who isn't, and why Americans are not being asked to fill these jobs when millions with all types of skills, high and low, are available.

But I am pleased to see a meeting on the subject of enforcement at the National Press Club and the obvious attrition that will occur.

Deportations are still required. You may recall I suggested on a LIFO basis, last in, first out.

I don't know yet who all the players are that created this mess, but they are responsible for the financial damages caused the American People and the corrections necessary to get our Nation back on track where it would have been but for this outrageous breach of Trust, Duty, and Law.

There are victims from these crimes....people have lost their lives, been killed, because people didn't do their jobs they were hired and paid to do.

There are economic victims of these crimes...people have lost their jobs, been forced into poverty, lost their homes, been forced to file bankruptcy, forced on to welfare.

There are deflated economic victims of these crimes, people who have experienced deflated wages and salaries and benefits because of the excess supply of foreign labor, illegal and legal, allowed into the United States when neither were necessary, neither were in the best interest of the American People, and neither were in the best interest of the United States.

There are social victims of these crimes, students deprived of their normal education with schools filled with foreign aliens; citizens deprived of convenient medical care because foreign aliens flocked the emergency rooms without payment or right and caused these facilities to close; citizens deprived of their peace of mind, watching their neighborhood, their streets, their places of business fill with foreign nationals from foreign nations surrounding them as if in a Foreign Land; citizens deprived of their safety fearing to walk out the door for fear of being robbed, mugged, raped, by foreign nationals of foreign governments...with no one to call, no one to turn to, no one to reach out to for help or security or safety to calm these fears.

There are political victims of these crimes, legal voters having their vote nixxed by an alien vote....changing the outcome of elections in the United States.

This is not a Tsnumai, an act of God, that flooded our country with illegal aliens. This is a deliberate act of Man and Men and Officials and Corporate Heads....that caused this.....and they are the ones to pay to correct the problem they alone caused and make right the economic, social and political damage they inflicted upon millions of American Citizens, who trusted their employers and who believed in their Government by actions they chose to take that are in total and absolute violation of US Immigration, US Labor,US Civil Rights and US Voter and Election Laws of the United States.

The American People have been betrayed by the very Institutions they allowed to form and exist for the protection and betterment of the American People and the security and well-being of our Nation.

The betrayal through both action and inaction is of a scale beyond any in American History....an unimaginable betrayal that also happened to violate specific laws passed and enabled to prevent both the very betrayal that occurred and the consequences the American People have endured as a result.
