Challenge to California In-State Tuition
A decision last week by a Yolo County superior court judge against a lawsuit challenging California’s in-state tuition for illegal aliens will be appealed to the District Court of Appeal in Sacramento according to Kris Kobach, lead counsel for the Immigration Reform Law Institute. Kobach commented that, “this is really just the first stage of a multistage lawsuit.” Rep. Brian Bilbray, two of whose children are plaintiffs in the lawsuit, commented that, “if (states) want to violate the power of [the] separations act by encouraging illegal immigration with education, then we're going to restrict education funds.”
(FAIR comment: We are supporting this legal challenge to the California law. Ira Mehlman, our Media Director, told the Bee that the California law is a “state-sponsored inducement to illegal immigration that needs to be challenged.”)Last edited by working4change; 08-23-2013 at 02:15 PM.
