Charlotte immigration court opening pushed back again

WASHINGTON
An immigration court scheduled to open in Charlotte has been delayed for a second time.
Rep. Sue Myrick, R-9th, announced the second delay on Tuesday, and said the General Services Administration did not tell her office what was causing the latest problem.
The first delay occurred last July when the GSA's procurement process took longer than first anticipated. The Executive Office for Immigration Review informed Myricks office of the second delay, pushing the potential start date back to September.
In a letter sent to the GSA and dated March 4, Myrick wrote that the latest delay makes her question the agency's ability to secure and manage separate leases. She called on the GSA in the letter to take a closer look at how they manage leases.
It was in March 2007 that the U.S. Justice Department said it would open an immigration court in Charlotte this year.
