Chattanooga Police say they have broken up an illegal immigrant smuggling ring and stumbled on a Safe House for illegal aliens. Two suspects are in custody. They could face charges of kidnapping and extortion. The 10 illegals are in custody of Immigration and Naturalization Services and will likely be deported to Mexico. The scheme is called a Coyote scheme, and here's how police say it works. The "coyotes" promise to help smuggle people into the U.S. for money. However, it's never enough money and the immigrants end up being held hostage.

Their families are extorted for hundreds of dollars. Chattanooga Police Lieutenant Tim Carroll says they all appear to be victims of the scheme. He says Chattanooga police got a tip from officers in Illinois who were looking for one of the victims.

They tracked the suspects to Jasper, Tennessee then to East 19th Street in Chattanooga.

"We actually stumbled on this house by accident," Lt. Carroll said. "(Then we found out) they were smuggling illegal aliens into the United States."

A police spokesman says it's the third case like this they've busted in Chattanooga in the past year.

What about the neighborhoods and the citizens living there? Are they not victims too because they have no idea who lives among them and if they are criminals? What about the illegal aliens' true identities. If they commit a crime and run, who are you looking for? Illegal Alien A, B, or C.

Chattanooga,TN and Dalton,GA are a short distance from Cleveland, TN and both are illegal alien havens. Gangs, drugs, crime are rampant and Mayor Tom Rowland of Cleveland, TN has been asked to implement the 287 (g) and the Basic Pilot to discourage the attraction of illegal aliens, gangs, crime to Cleveland. What about the relationship with Jerry Bohannon, President of the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce and the relationship with Pastor Daniel Sylverston of the Ocoee Regional Multiculture Services ORMS center?

Now it is said that Cleveland, Tn is the place to go for documents, drivers licenses, marriage licenses, and a "lenient" attitude toward illegal aliens. Cleveland, TN has the appearance of a sanctuary city for illegal aliens with increased drunk driving, safe houses for illegals, non enforcement of city housing codes, lack of action by law enforcement on tips of possible criminal actions such as harboring illegals, transporting and employing illegals, and possible dismissed charges in cases presented before the court.

The Police Chief Wes Snyder has still not shown effort to apply for the 287 (g). Sheriff Tim Gobble knows the need for the program and yet Cleveland, TN is attracting criminal illegal aliens, leaving citizens victim to larger DUI numbers, gangs, drugs, etc. and no one is standing up to say "ENOUGH." The Bradley County Mayor Gary Davis has been asked to support the 287. If for no other reason, it is a good, public safety program. The DUI offenders that are being released is not acceptable.

Police and Feds Bust Illegal Immigrant Safe House



"We're still in the early stages of who's a suspect and who's a victim," said Chattanooga Police Lt. Tim Carroll, "but they're all illegal aliens."

A kidnapping investigation which began in illinois leads Chattanooga Police and federal agents to a safe house on the east side of the Scenic City.

"They tracked suspects and victim to Marion County, Tennessee, yesterday," explained Lt. Carroll. "Well, today they tracked them to 1901 South Beech."

Inside, 10 to 12 illegals from Mexico and Guatemala. Carroll says people in the states employ "coyotes" to smuggle relatives across the border. but when they arrive, the price goes up. "They're extorting extra money," he said, "and when they don't get the money, they drive off with them until they get the money."

"This is a smaller part of a large operation," he added. "They're paying 25-hundred to 5-thousand dollars to smuggle loved ones in from Mexico and transport them all over the United States."

The investigation continues, aided by records found in the Beech Street house. An almost 30-page ledger found inside lists names and amounts paid and leads from Bensville, Illinois, through Chattanooga, on to Memphis and Arkansas with the home base being Mesa, Arizona.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents take custody of the men found on Thursday evening. "They're gonna be transported to Silverdale," said Lt. Carroll, "and probably deported back to their country of origin."
