    Chicago Alderman: anti-hate speech resolution

Chicago Aldmn Cardenas, Flores introduce anti-"hate speech" resolution; Mexico-linked ICIRR cheers

The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights: http://wiki.lonewacko.com/wiki/Illinois ... gee-Rights is linked to the Mexican government, and they have some involvement in a resolution introduced today by two Chicago aldermen (George Cardenas and Manny Flores) condemning "hate speech" (i.e, the facts) supposedly directed at "immigrants" (i.e., illegal aliens). The resolution also comes out in favor of legalizations of illegal aliens. And, Lou Dobbs and others are apparently the intended targets, with Cardenas saying:

"...the overall climate surrounding the immigration issue has turned more and more ugly, fed in particular by cable news. It's time that our city took a stand against the hateful rhetoric."
The ICIRR press release references the recent Media Matters report "Fear and Loathing in Prime Time: Immigration Myths and Cable News", with their Fred Tsao saying:

"The Media Matters report documents in great detail how Dobbs, O'Reilly, Beck, and others have used distortions and misrepresentations to portray immigrants in a negative light and push an anti-immigrant agenda... We applaud Aldermen Cardenas and Flores for standing with immigrants and against hate."
Those involved are simply trying to silence debate in order to make their grab for race-based power easier. And, this illustrates again the folly of those non-far-lefties who give in to the far-left's definition of hate.

Ugh, I dealt with the "Coalition" when they tried to help pass a similar resolution this Winter in Evanston, IL.

They claimed they wanted to extinguish harmful rhetoric, yet they put the words racist and anti-immigrant right INTO the resolution to describe anyone who opposed them.

    Isn't that a tad hypocritical?

If they yearn to extinguish hateful rhetoric, isn't it best to lead by example?

Besides, they have yet to give a solid example of what they mean by hateful rhetoric. What words are we using that they find so offensive? Has anyone read of a concrete example they've given?

Now, even though I don't know to what rhetoric they're referring, I'd wager it can't be any more harmful or hateful than branding someone as anti-immigrant, racist, or xenophobic merely because they want their nation's laws enforced.

But for the sake of being helpful, I'll play along. How would they like us to describe a group of people who:
    -Trespass
    -Steal others identities
    -Pledge allegiance to another country.
-Ignore any law that might make "feeding their family" difficult?

Oh yes, and it's all paid for by someone else. What rhetoric would they like us to use to describe them? Provided the rhetoric they suggest is semantically accurate, I haven't any issue trying something new.

    How about:
    Fraudulently-documented immigrants?
Border, tax, and law enforcement evasion specialists?
    The differentially allegianced?

I can even suggest a new slogan!
Si paga para nosotros, si se puede!
if you pay for us, yes we can!

The only ones I hear spewing hate is the pro amnesty idiots. I didn't realize that "enforce the laws" was a racist phrase?

    Same old carp:

"Agree with us - we'll have debate"
    "Don't agree - you're filled with hate"
