The Clock is Ticking for the Minutemen
    Friday, April 08, 2005
    By Bill O'Reilly

The clock is ticking for the Minutemen: that is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo."

You may have heard that hundreds of Americans have traveled to southern Arizona to surveil the border with Mexico. They call themselves the Minutemen. And the concept is very simple â€â€
"This country has lost control of its borders. And no country can sustain that kind of position." .... Ronald Reagan

That's typical of the left. Instinctively, they don't want to have the authority directed at poor people, but they have no solution to our growing security problems.
The problem with the left is they are spending all of their time looking for a backbone, since they lack one.

We all know politics is involved here. Some Hispanic-Americans are sympathetic to illegal aliens and both political parties don't want to lose Hispanic votes.
But the majority of legal hispanics are fed up with illegals.

I think individually many on the left have faced mortal danger for expressing their beliefs. I wouldn't call that a lack of backbone. However the left is not homegenus, it's much more of a culture of individual values and priorities. Makes it difficult to find focus and cohesion for the group as a whole. The right on the other hand has more of a call to arms mentality and belief in the power of authority. It makes for lots of cohesion but not for a lot of reaching out to others.

To reach the left on this issue is has to be about border security not about immigration. In years past the jobs issue would be a big thing too but any more the unions have been emasculated by right controlled states.
