Immigration agency snubs state, says Rep. King

A report discussing the arrests of nearly 800 suspected illegal immigrants in the past year left open a question that state Rep. Steve King, R-Grand Junction, wanted answered.

He wasn’t just denied an answer, though. He, and the state, got a snub from the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, King said.

King still wants to know how many illegal-immigrant suspects were contacted by federal immigration agents in Colorado, then released. ICE officials were expected to attend a meeting Friday in the old Colorado Supreme Court chambers of the state Capitol, but didn’t show.

“I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with ICE and their lack of respect for the state of Colorado,â€
