Commissioner doesn't like Burlington Police Department stance on immigration

Alamance County Commissioner Tim Sutton is among the strongest advocates for reducing the flow of illegal immigrants into the county and removing those already here.

Now Sutton is taking his fight to Burlington, specifically police Chief Mike Williams.

Burlington police are failing to doing enough to curb illegal immigration, Sutton says.

Williams says his decision to fight crime instead of focusing on immigration status is not hurting the county’s efforts against illegal immigration.

“There’s nothing that we are doing or not doing that will in any way interfere with what the sher-iff’s department is doing in conjunction with Immigration and Customs Enforcement,â€
