Congress, don’t fix DACA
Congress, don’t fix DACA
Sep 9, 2017
Honoring his campaign pledge, President Donald Trump refuses to renew the Obama regime unconstitutional executive order that bypassed Congress and granted temporary amnesty to illegal alien minors. Trump rightly has returned this prerogative to Congress with a deadline, if it wants to renew this amnesty.
Congress should not extend this deferred amnesty program, as it would cause chain migration that ignores and encourages future illegal immigration into the U.S. Continuing it would signal that we effectively have given up enforcing our immigration law and instead seek to reward those who illegally enter our country. Failure of repeal will invite thousands more illegal aliens to violate our borders, knowing that they, too, will obtain amnesty, and unfairly snubs immigrants who wait years and spend thousands to attain legal citizenship. Thousands of other illegal aliens then would demand the same amnesty for their children.
The Trump ultimatum should prompt Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform under his RAISE Act that would create a merit system of points based on a skills-based framework that rewards applicants based on their ability to show self-sufficiency and enhance our economy.

Comprehensive immigration reform must contain a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Anything else would not be considered "comprehensive" by the Democrats definition. Hopefully most Republicans don't support amnesty for illegals because the Democrats won't support anything but an amnesty that provides a path to citizenship.
Of course my comment above is referring to "comprehensive immigration reform" ...... not the DACA (DREAMER) amnesty. On the DACA (DREAMER) amnesty, I'm not exactly sure how much opposition there is in the U.S. Congress. Republicans, other than the usual suspects like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, etc., have been fairly quite on the topic."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**
