Congress Holds Hearings on Immigration Reform

Congress.org Holds Virtual Hearing

Congress is holding hearings around the country to take testimony on the impact of illegal immigration and what should be done. Should there be a focus on securing the borders first (or only on securing the borders)? Or should any reform also provide an earned path to citizenship?

Just because you don't live near a hearing site doesn't mean your views can't be considered. Congress.org is holding a virtual hearing on immigration reform. Here are three ways to make your views known to Congress and your fellow citizens:

1) Write a letter to Your State and Federal Leaders Sharing Your Views

I Support Enforcement First or Enforcement Only at the Border

I Support Security Plus a Path to Citizenship

Post your letters on "Letters to Leaders" for everyone to see.

2) Post Your Solution to the Problem on "The Soapbox" - If you want to see a virtual version of your Soapbox Alert, send an e-mail with a link to your Soapbox Alert and an approximate age, gender and race for your avatar character. Please edit or excerpt your text for a Virtual Soapbox to no more than 600 characters. We will select the best submissions to post as a Virtual Soapbox.

3) Know How Your Senators or House Rep. Feels About or Votes on Immigration Reform? Want to share the results of a letter or call to your representatives? Post that information for your fellow citizens to see in "Soapbox Commentary" each time they look up that member. Make sure everyone knows what your representatives are really saying or doing. Simply find the representative you want and select "post yours" under Soapbox Commentary.
