Conservative Activists Boo Eric Cantor Over Support for Amnesty; Boot His Ally From Virginia GOP

Furious over his support for amnesty for illegal aliens, conservative activists gave Rep. Eric Cantor a rough “welcome” in his own district – sending a message that the House GOP leadership would be wise to heed before they hand Barack Obama a victory on “immigration reform”.
Cantor (R-Va.), the House Majority Leader was “heckled and booed” by conservatives and Tea Party activists at the 7th Congressional District Convention held in Richmond Saturday. — and that wasn’t even the worst of it.
Incumbent RINO and longtime Cantor loyalist Linwood Cobb was defeated as chair of the local GOP and ousted by Tea Party favorite Fred Gruber.
In the past, Gruber, an opponent of illegal immigration, has been an outspoken critic of Cantor and even appeared to refuse to refer to him as a “representative.”
“Notice I have NOT addressed Mr. Cantor as ‘Representative Cantor’, (sic) because I do not feel he properly represents us, in many ways,” a January blog post that appeared to be authored by Gruber said.

The astounding defeat, described as a “huge loss” by a local NBC anchor, triggered a statement from former lieutenant governor Bill Bolling — a liberal Republican many blame for the loss of Ken Cuccinelli for Governor last year by refusing to support him, and dividing GOP donors. Bolling said he was “extremely disappointed” by the vote.
“Clearly, there is a battle taking place for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. We are seeing this battle play out all across our state,” he said. “While the voice of every Republican should be heard, our challenge is to figure out how to be a conservative party, without allowing the most extreme voices of the day to control our party and determine its future direction.”
“Most extreme,” meaning of course any “Republican” who does not kowtow to the pro-amnesty and Obama-surrendering edicts of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
This was a major warning shot to the GOP establishment on the eve of their push for amnesty. Will they learn the lesson and pull the plug before they hand Obama and the Democrats a huge political victory, and wreck their own party in the process?
