Sounds like Cook Co. is almost like LA.
Another area that shouldn't get any federal assistance.

Immigrant Sanctuary Resolution up for Vote

Cook County Commissioner Roberto Maldonado says the County should make sure immigrants aren’t afraid to use government services.

MALDONADO: If they feel intimidated, because they fear that questions about their legal status are going to be asked, then we’re not providing the services that we should be providing to all of the residents of the County of Cook.

Maldonado says he’ll introduce a resolution at tomorrow’s County Board meeting.

His resolution would forbid local police from asking people about their legal status unless they’re investigating another crime.

The resolution would also limit county staff from asking about status unless it related to the services being provided.

The resolution is modeled after an ordinance Chicago’s had since the late 1980s.

Maldonado says suburban Cook residents need the same protection.

He expects the county board will vote on the resolution tomorrow.
