U.S. Sen. John Cornyn agrees that the federal government needs to do more to secure the border with Mexico because of ongoing violence.
Cornyn, R-Texas, made the statement Monday before he swore in Cameron County Judge Carlos H. Cascos to his second term.
The two officials spoke for about two hours before the ceremony, noting the need to improve border security in light of a significant increase in drug cartel violence over the past year.
