More people in Alamance County are now using food stamps to meet their families’ nutritional needs than they did before the economic downturn beginning in 2007.

Alamance County Department of Social Services distributed about $1 million through food and nutritional services monthly in 2007. Four years later, the amount distributed monthly through the program is about $3 million.
