    The family — then living in Fort Worth — first attempted to file for Robin Whiteley’s citizenship in 1987 but found the system complicated and cumbersome. Immigration authorities would advise them to file one form, only to turn around and tell them that it was the wrong one and they needed to fill out another.

    Because of their modest means, hiring an attorney to guide them through the process was out of the question.
    Don't buy this story. Stupidity and ignorance are no excuse. If they were of such modest means, how were they able to afford adoption? They should have kept up the process instead of giving up. They should have done this when he was a toddler, not a grown man.

    What a sob story! They knew exactly what they were doing--lying, and only God knows what else they have lied about. Robin gets deported in 2002 and walks back a few hours later. And we have to support him when he gets thrown in jail...
