Criminal alien living in Tama sentenced to prison

CEDAR RAPIDS | A Mexican man who unlawfully re-entered the United States after having been deported following his 2010 Tama County convictions for child endangerment and domestic abuse assault with a dangerous weapon, was sentenced Tuesday to serve 41 months in a federal prison.

Luciano Garcia-Corona, 37, from Mexico, received the prison term after having pleaded guilty Nov. 21, 2014, to one count of unlawful re-entry following deportation as an aggravated felon, and one count of unlawful possession of identity documents.

Garcia-Corona was deported from the United States on Dec. 28, 2011, following his 2010 convictions in Tama County. Garcia-Corona also had been deported Dec. 15, 1999. Following each of his prior deportations, Garcia-Corona unlawfully returned to the United States and committed violent crimes.

In April 2014, Garcia-Corona was convicted and sentenced in Tama County, following convictions for third-degree arson, domestic abuse-assault, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, child endangerment and identity theft.

Garcia-Corona was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade. Garcia-Corona was sentenced to 41 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $200 was imposed, and he was ordered to serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

That is not appropriate sentencing for one convicted of heinous crimes, deported and then re-entering. He has to receive an ultimate sentence, ending our fear over him endangering our children forever. Does anyone want to contend that aliens are not favored residents over Americans?
