DANBURY -- The anti-illegal immigration group United States Citizens for Immigration Law Enforcement in Danbury plan to hold a prayer vigil Saturday to pray for citizens who have been victimized by illegal immigrants.
"We'll have posters and the names of victims," president Elise Marciano said.

She said people may think the victimization started with the Sept. 11 attacks, but she said it continues with murders, drunk driving and other car accidents.

The event takes place at 11 a.m. at Kennedy Park.

The Rev. Philip Pitya, of St. Gregory the Great Parish in Danbury, said if people genuinely want to pray, that's fine.

"As a priest, if they asked me to pray with them, I would take that as an opportunity to talk with them," Pitya said. "I'd look at it as a chance to exchange views."

Pitya said he doesn't necessarily agree with the anti-illegal immigrant group, but prayer is a very good thing that might give people a chance to talk.

Pitya grew up in the Sudan, and when that country fell into revolution, he left. He has lived in the United States for 10 years.

"My attitude is we have to live with everyone," Pitya said.
