Mexican trucking program to be extended for two more years

    By Paul M. Krawzak
    U-T WASHINGTON BUREAU

    11:10 a.m. August 4, 2008

WASHINGTON – A controversial one-year program allowing Mexican trucks to travel deep into the United States will be extended for two more years, federal officials announced Monday.
John H. Hill, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, said the extension would allow for the collection of more data to determine whether Mexican trucks can operate safely in the United States.

Opponents quickly denounced the move, which some had been expecting despite their protests that the program poses a danger on U.S. highways.
Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn., chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, accused U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters of continuing to “flout the willâ€

They are saying this was a 3 year program but I watched the hearing on this and Dorgan was very clear to Mary Peters about this being a 1 year pilot program......

They better not let them get away with this crap!

How many more hard-working American truckers are going to be out of work? How many tons of drugs, and illegals can be brought in? How many Americans can die on the road, when these fully loaded vehicles have faulty brakes? Ah, what all this country does to gather data is amazing.

Obviously this moron hasn't seen the evidence. Can we all print out those pics of the mexican trucks with bald tires and weird crap hanging all over them and send them to this guy? We can inundate him with all the evidence he needs, and it won't take us two years to do it.
The flag flies at half-mast out of grief for the death of my beautiful, formerly-free America. May God have mercy on your souls.

Congress passed a law last year to end the program, but U.S. transportation officials interpreted it as only applying to future pilot programs.
The U.S. transportation officials dont make laws, congress does. Fire the entire lot!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Byron (Dorgan), and Peter (DeFazio),

Like most everyone else I was very bothered by today's news: "Mexican trucking program to be extended for two more years."

My daily newsletter goes out to over 300 anti-illegal immigration groups, and individuals, across the United States, including all Minuteman Chapters, Fire Coalition chapters, and individual state groups from essentially every state. If they aren't on my mailing list, it is only that I haven't yet heard of them, or seen their name mentioned anywhere.

We are ready to help your efforts in curtailing John H. Hill, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and today's edict that the Mexican truck Pilot Program would be extended for two more years.

    Awaiting your directions.

    Sincerely,
    Name removed (Buzzm1)
