Denver man arrested for human smuggling

GLENWOOD SPRINGS (AP) — Glenwood Springs Police said one man has been arrested on suspicion of human smuggling and other charges after a van crashed and injured several people.

Investigators said 29-year-old Alberto Alvaro Salez was driving the van Sunday when it hit slush on Interstate 70, veered into the median and rolled over.

About 10 people were taken to area hospitals. Four were admitted, two of them in critical condition.

Police Chief Terry Wilson said investigators believe Salez may have been transporting illegal immigrants, and police say immigration officials have entered the case.
