Deputies Searching For Suspected Illegal Immigrant

Belmont County deputies continue searching for a suspected illegal immigrant after they said he ran away during a traffic stop.

Deputies said it all started when they pulled over a van with California registration going eastbound on Interstate 70 near mile marker 222.

Deputies said there was a total of 11 suspected illegals in the van and when they started to take them into custody, they said one of them took of running north across the interstate, and ending up jumping head first over a median wall into the westbound lane. Deputies said it was a 75 yard drop.

Deputies said he was able to crawl away, and after following footprints and a blood trail for three hours, they said he's still missing.

Deputies said the suspected illegal's name is Erik Perez Hernandez and he was last scene wearing a dark yellow hooded sweatshirt and jeans, he's between 5'5 and 5'7 and weighs about 150 pounds.

Deputies said they aren't sure if Hernandez is still alive.
