trump admin should have rescinded the law yesterday - just like he should NOT have signed to re-authorize the trafficking act in 9/17 that includes the act to bring in central americans. That streams down to funding is written into the budget too. This is all careless and taking too long - boom get it done. Surely many in political jobs do not want that. kelly doesn't want to stop this invasion, lady daca doesn't, ryan, mc connell etc. They've all been lollygaging along within the last 13mths. They want to make sure enough are let into this country to change it forever as they breed like bunnies before they do anything @ closing the border. they want enough cheap labor so they don't have to pay Americans a decent wage - from dishwashers to IT workers. And they will all stay except for blatant criminals.

trump can't be spending all of his time on a daca amnesty while tens of thousands are coming in monthly. It is getting ridiculous. Day one came and went. Now it seems he will cave for a general amnesty, immigration reform, for his wall. That is even more ridiculous and not what was promised.

You present the emergency situation necessary to stop all intakes of asylum seekers due to the fact it has become too dangerous, perilous for our American citizens, we are filled to capacity and do not permit entry - bus them back home if necessary with a lunch too. That should be humanitarian enough for the "fear" cons & ms-13 gang members. Due to the fact that the budget for programs Americans' need and deserve are shrinking or non-existent, we cannot afford billions of dollars to provide living expenses, shelter, healthcare to those seeking asylum. Hey, not my profession to be technically correct but what I'm hearing, seeing coming out of this admin is not up to snuff.

Am sure a presentation, an EO, a memo, could be legally worded to stop this nonsense tomorrow. Why give 45-90 days to your workers that have had months to figure out what should be done? Not enough time has been spent or misspent purposely. trump's going to let this caravan in because he is not moving fast enough on this.

How long has catch and release been re-activated till it finally started leaking out or did it ever stop? Come on, that's deception. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT QUICKLY. obama admin was much slicker with non-stop directives. Day after day was something else he found a way to do. $1500 a month plus a smart phone for all central american youths. Changing the money, forcing low income housing in areas that did not have any or enough for his tastes. He had a tough legal team and a think tank that was non stop. Politicians, judges rarely challenged obama.

Like I said before, these orders by trump admin are not written correctly, smartly, they become toilet paper. Too much time spent on removing regulations like the Clean Water Act, taking millions of acres from pristine monument areas for toxic industries' use - too much time for greedy profiteers, to amnesty daca, not enough time spent for border control and removing illegal aliens amongst us. All that time for those cement wall prototpes and they all looked alike. None see thru. We could have much better surveillance by now with geeky-tecky stuff. They are still coming in droves thru known sneaker areas. Day one those areas should have been taken care of. Is trump serious or does he just want to amnesty everyone here - hard to believe after all that campaign bull that is even a possibility today.

He could possibly suspend all asylum entries over the Southern Border from NAFTA and CAFTA countries due to massive fraud and the threat to national security that poses. How about that idea?

He'd probably be sued but he might win in court, too. That would give Congress time to repeal that stupid asylum law.

Will be another piece of toilet paper after a long dragged out report and it will not be effective. We need the asylums to stop NOW. trump needs to get sharper & more creative legal input. obama did not waste anytime with his decrees.

President Trump Signs Memo Ordering an End to “Catch and Release”

We are liking what we’ve seen from President Trump over the past couple of weeks. Perhaps realizing that his last, best chance to get border wall funding came and went with the last omnibus spending bill, he has turned his attention to illegal immigration with a force not seen since the campaign trail. On Friday, he took another big step towards making America’s borders great again by signing a memorandum directing his Cabinet to end the ridiculous and dangerous practice of “catch and release.”

By itself, the memo does not carry the force of law or change any official policy at the border. However, by signing it, President Trump has sent a significant directive of intent to the parts of his administration concerned with national security and immigration enforcement. The move is symbolic to an extent, but it also signals that Trump is going to add this to his agenda in the coming years. That could mean that he will begin to pressure Congress to officially change the laws…even though that will prove difficult, if the inaction over DACA and the border wall provide us with any predictive value.

Democrats and RINOs have been pressuring the White House to ease up when it comes to illegal immigration, even proposing several large-scale amnesty bills in exchange for the funding of a border wall. So far, Trump has not only resisted this pressure but has actively begun moving forward on an even more expansive and strict agenda that also includes cracking down on certain forms of legal immigration. Over the past week, Trump has set the wheels in motion for the military to begin patrolling the southern border, but that’s only the latest step in what the president promised would be a complete overhaul on how this country deals with issues of immigration.

Other things in the works include: A lawsuit against California to fight back against the state’s sanctuary laws, a plan to end the diversity visa lottery and chain migration, an effort to pass the RAISE Act, which would strictly limit immigration to only those whose migration would yield a net benefit to this country, the addition of a citizenship question to the U.S. census, and a crackdown on immigrants – legal and illegal – who benefit from any form of public welfare while staying in the United States. And all of this comes as a backdrop to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency that has been given a much broader ability to arrest and deport illegal immigrants.

In a statement announcing the latest memo, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said it was yet another step in Trump’s dedication to shoring up our national security.

“The safety and security of the American people is the president’s highest priority, and he will keep his promise to protect our country and to ensure that our laws are respected,” Sanders said. “At the same time, the president continues to call on congressional Democrats to cease their staunch opposition to border security and to stop blocking measures that are vital to the safety and security of the United States.”

Can’t say we expect that last part to come true, but perhaps the American people will at least see their obstruction for what it is and block them from achieving greater power in November. Because if they do, the Trump immigration agenda will effectively be dead in the water as far as Congress is concerned.

Border Patrol: Wall in New Mexico to be 'serious structure'

By: SUSAN MONTOYA BRYAN, Associated Press
    Updated: Apr 09, 2018 09:35 PM EDT

A new wall being constructed along a 20-mile (32-kilometer) stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border in southern New Mexico as part of President Donald Trump's fight against drug trafficking and illegal immigration is being advertised as a "very serious structure" made of metal and concrete.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials gathered Monday to mark the groundbreaking of the $73 million project at Santa Teresa near New Mexico's state line with Texas. They say the new wall will be harder to get over, under and through.

The work to rip out the old vehicle barriers and replace them with the bollard-style wall is expected to take a little more than a year, but opponents are suing in an effort to stop the work.

    ___

    OUT WITH THE OLD

Gone will be the old post and rail barriers that are meant to stop vehicles but have been of little use against people trying to cross on foot. Aside from being easy to breach, U.S. Border Patrol officials say the existing barriers and mesh fencing are expensive and time consuming to repair.

In their place will be taller barriers that will provide a view through to the other side but will make it difficult for vehicles and people to pass.

The wall will stand at least 18 feet tall (5.4 meters) and could go as high as 30 feet (9.1 meters) depending on the undulating terrain. It will have a 5-foot (1.5 meter) metal plate at the top to discourage climbing.

The concrete will extend several feet into the ground and there will be more concrete below that to prevent people from digging under it. The design is similar to the existing wall that separates Sunland Park, New Mexico, and Anapra, Mexico.

"It's going to deter all but the most determined illegal entrants from entering the United States here," said Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Hull, who oversees the area.

    ___

    PRIME CORRIDOR

Only about one-third of the Southwest border has some kind of barrier, and border authorities have identified the El Paso Sector - the sprawling desert territory that spans part of West Texas and all of New Mexico - as an active smuggling route.

The priority within the sector is west of Santa Teresa, which Hull described as a prime corridor for running drugs and the busiest area for apprehensions of those suspected of entering the country illegally.

Agents in the El Paso sector arrested more than 25,000 immigrants suspected of crossing illegally and seized more than 34,000 pounds of marijuana and 140 pounds of cocaine during the last fiscal year.

While total border arrests dropped early in Trump's first year in office, the number climbed to 50,308 in March - up 37 percent from February and more than triple the same period last year.

Hull says agents will be able to better address the rising number of illegal crossings with the help of a more effective physical deterrent and technology.

    ___

    LEGAL BATTLE

Environmentalists have sued over the project, saying the federal government overstepped its authority in waiving laws as a way to speed construction.

A federal judge in San Diego recently sided with the Trump administration in a similar project involving waivers of environmental reviews for the replacement and construction of border wall prototypes in California. Reviews required under the National Environmental Policy Act and other dozens of other laws can create significant delays or even block construction.

An environmental advocacy group on Monday asked the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn the San Diego ruling and said Trump was trying to fulfill what they described as a "hateful political promise." The Center for Biological Diversity said it would argue that the waiver authority under a 2005 law has expired.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra also appealed on Monday. A frequent critic of Trump, Becerra contended in his filing that the waiver authority expired and that the waivers were executive overreach under the U.S. Constitution.

U.S. Justice Department spokesman Devin O'Malley declined to comment on Monday's appeals.

Well, that's sounds really good to me. I think the looks, height and steel of the new bollard style fencing. It's progress in a high priority high traffic area. Hope it helps a lot to get the job done!!

    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.

I resent the fact that Trump and the media are starting to refer to what is going up now as a wall. This is not the wall we were promised. We can thank the U.S. Congress for that. However, Trump is guilty of owning it and calling it a wall! Instead of claiming ownership and calling this a wall, Trump needs devise a way to pay for the wall we were promised. I still don't understand why we aren't raising the money through remittance taxes, increased border crossing fees, visas, etc.! Hell, start a GoFundMe page as a starter and go from there. Congress has no intention of funding the border wall. Heck, if things go bad for us in the next elections, we're certainly not going to see any funding!

We were promised Mexico was going to pay for a wall, let's start making that happen!

MW, you can't have the wall you were promised, because there's no money for it and Mexico won't pay for it yet. Trump tried to get you your wall with his DACA DEAL, but you didn't want it. So make do with what you and I and the rest of us settled for. You have to learn to keep your side of a deal, too. Trump is getting you the best barrier wall/fence he can that the law allows and the little money he got will pay for. This is where you're supposed to say 'thank you", promote Republicans so we can get the money for the wall next year because we have enough Republicans TO VOTE FOR IT. See how that works in our little America? See in our country when you don't win elections or in our cases enough elections, you lose.
