People already strapped by the Democrat's economy are now saddled with medical bills for their children so that Democrats can appease illegal aliens by helping to traffic their children to them via Mexican drug cartels without health screening. Yet, they just don't know where it came from? It seems that Chicag, which a large illegal population, has been hit particularly hard.
Outbreak of a Respiratory Illness Escalates Among Children and Mystifies Scientists
By CATHERINE SAINT LOUIS
SEPT. 25, 2014
An outbreak of respiratory illness first observed in the Midwest has spread to 38 states, sending children to hospitals and baffling scientists trying to understand its virulent resurgence.
As of Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had confirmed 226 cases of infection with enterovirus 68. But it is likely that many times that number have been stricken. One case involved an adult, and no deaths have been linked to the infection.
“What the C.D.C. is reporting is clearly the tip of the iceberg,” said Dr. Mary Anne Jackson, the division director of infectious diseases at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. The hospital was the first to alert the agency last month to an unusual increase in children with trouble breathing. Since then, Dr. Jackson has received calls from colleagues nationwide seeking guidance. Some report that the influx of children to hospitals is “almost outweighing the resources available,” she said.
Three times in the past month, the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital has had to divert ambulances to other hospitals because its emergency room was filled with children, most of them younger than 5, with severe respiratory illness. Before the outbreak, the hospital had not had to divert ambulances in 10 years, said Dr. Daniel Johnson, the interim section chief of pediatric infectious diseases at the hospital.
Enteroviruses are common, but this strain is not. Symptoms in the current outbreak resemble those of a bad cold, including body aches and cough. But some children progress to wheezing and having breathing difficulties. Scientists say they do not know why it is happening.
“Parents would love to know why this virus is causing severe disease and why there are more cases,” said Rafal Tokarz, an associate research scientist at Columbia University who has studied the virus, “but we won’t be able to answer that until a lot more research is done.”
From Aug. 18 to Sept. 24, roughly 3,600 children were treated at emergency and urgent-care facilities at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Most were sent home, but roughly 10 percent were hospitalized because they needed continuous breathing treatment, supplemental oxygen, or even to be placed on a ventilator in the intensive-care unit.
The hospital has had a “bed crunch” and is struggling to maintain supplies of albuterol, a rescue medication used by asthma sufferers, said Dr. Christine Nyquist, the director for infection prevention and control.
Experts said children should rest at home if they had run-of-the-mill cold symptoms like a runny nose, cough and body aches, but were hydrated, eating and breathing comfortably.
“If your child has mild respiratory cold symptoms, they do not need to be rushed to the E.R.,” said Dr. Marian G. Michaels, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The hospital’s emergency department has seen 50 to 70 more children a day for respiratory illness than is customary this time of year.
But there are signs that a child requires immediate medical care: rapid or labored breathing that involves neck muscles, wheezing, complaining of chest pain or not being able to catch one’s breath, and blue lips. A baby who has to stop drinking from a bottle to breathe should be seen by a doctor. A fever need not be present.
Belabored breathing should be obvious. “Parents aren’t going to miss this,” Dr. Jackson said.
She said many school-aged patients told their parents, “I need to go to the E.R. because I can’t breathe.”
Children with asthma or underlying lung disease are more often sent to intensive-care units, but severe symptoms are “not limited to them,” said Dr. Meg Fisher, medical director at Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J.
Dr. Fisher added: “You can’t totally say: ‘My child doesn’t have asthma. I don’t need to worry.’ ” Monitor children who have colds closely, she said, but “let’s not panic.”
She and others urged parents to take standard precautions to avoid spreading enterovirus: Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Disinfect toys. Avoid sharing cups or utensils with sick children.

Just wait til Ebola breaks out over here. There's absolutely nothing to stop it, especially when we have a bunch of so called 'leaders' who won't screen, profile, and shut down travel to and from those affected countries. We will have a health and economic terrorism event of epic proportions and we will have nobody but Barack Obama to blame.

Virus probed in paralysis cases in 9 Colorado kids
By MIKE STOBBE
AP Medical Writer
NEW YORK (AP) -- Health officials are investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado children and whether the culprit might be a virus causing severe respiratory illness across the country.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday sent doctors an alert about the polio-like cases and said the germ - enterovirus 68 - was detected in four out of eight of the sick children who had a certain medical test. The status of the ninth case is unclear.
The virus can cause paralysis but other germs can, too. Health officials don't know whether the virus caused any of the children's arm and leg weaknesses or whether it's just a germ they coincidentally picked up.
"That's why we want more information," and for doctors to report similar cases, said the CDC's Dr. Jane Seward.
The cases occurred within the last two months. All nine children are being treated at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, and most are from the Denver area. A hospital spokeswoman said the patients' families didn't want to talk to the media.
The nine children had fever and respiratory illness about two weeks before developing varying degrees of limb weakness. None seems to have a weak immune system or other conditions that might predispose them to severe illness, but the cases are still being investigated, Seward said. Investigators don't think it's polio - eight of the nine children are up to date on polio vaccinations. It's not known whether the limb weakness or paralysis is temporary or will be long-lasting.
The cases come amid an unusual wave of severe respiratory illness from enterovirus 68. The germ is not new - it was first identified in 1962 and has caused clusters of illness before, including in Georgia and Pennsylvania in 2009 and Arizona in 2010. Because it's not routinely tested for, it's possible the bug spread in previous years but was never distinguished from colds caused by other germs.
This year, the virus has gotten more attention because it has been linked to hundreds of severe illnesses. Beginning last month, a flood of sick children began to hit hospitals in Kansas City, Missouri, and Chicago - kids with trouble breathing, some needing oxygen or more extreme care such as a breathing machine. Many - but not all - had asthma before the infection.
The CDC has been testing a limited number of specimens from very sick children around the country, and as of Thursday reported 277 people in 40 states and the District of Columbia with enterovirus 68. So far no deaths have been attributed to the virus, but Seward said 15 still are being investigated.
Health officials know enterovirus can cause paralysis. Published reports count at least two people in the U.S. who were paralyzed and were found to have the virus in their spinal fluid. One was a New Hampshire 5-year-old in 2008; details are scant on the second case, a young adult, which happened many years earlier.
Earlier this year, Stanford University researchers said they had identified polio-like illnesses in about 20 California children over about 18 months. Two tested positive for enterovirus 68. CDC officials say it's still not clear if the virus was a factor in those cases.
Paralysis is a rare complication of enterovirus 68 infection, but with so many more cases of enterovirus being reported this year, it may not be surprising to see that problem, said Dr. Larry Wolk, chief medical officer of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
The CDC is asking doctors to report patients 21 or younger who developed limb weakness since August 1 and who have had an MRI exam that showed abnormalities in the nerve tissue in the spinal cord.
Seward said a test that showed the germ in a patient's spinal fluid would be good evidence that the virus was causing paralysis. Unfortunately, lab tests of spinal fluid often fail to identify bugs like enterovirus 68, even if they're present, she added.

CDC: Respiratory illnesses up to 277 confirmed cases in 40 states
USA Today Network Jolie Lee, USA TODAY Network 4:31 p.m. EDT September 29, 2014
The number of confirmed cases of an uncommon respiratory illness has increased to 277 in 40 states and the District of Columbia, affecting mostly children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
First identified 50 years ago, Enterovirus 68 or EV-D68 was rarely tested for and only began getting attention last month as hundreds of cases were linked to the virus.
"The severity is what triggered our concern," said Mark Pallansch, director of the CDC's Division of Viral Diseases.
The mild symptoms are similar to the common cold, but can progress into wheezing, problems breathing and paralysis.
The CDC, state health officials and doctors from Children's Hospital Colorado are investigating whether 10 cases in Colorado of children with muscle weakness or paralysis are linked to the virus.
Most had a respiratory illness about two weeks before coming down with an unspecified "acute neurologic illness," the CDC said. All were hospitalized for treatment, and of the eight tested, four were positive for enterovirus. The CDC said eight of the nine were confirmed up-to-date on their polio vaccinations.
The CDC says lab results for EV-D68 — not to be confused with the Ebola virus — do not indicate how widespread the cases are in each state. The health agency and a handful of state public health are working through a backlog of "multiple hundreds" of specimens, with more coming in, Pallansch said.
So far, about half of the specimens the labs have tested have come back positive for EV-D68 and the number of confirmed cases is likely to grow nationwide as the testing continues, according to the CDC.
Last year, there were no more than a dozen confirmed cases of the virus, but mainly because not as many cases were tested, Pallansch said.
"These increases will not necessarily reflect changes in real time, or mean that the situation is getting worse," according to the CDC.
Infants, children and teens are most at risk to get sick, especially children with asthma and the reason for the current outbreak is not completely understood, Pallansch said. Currently, there is no vaccine, he added.
The treatment is focused on improving the patients' "ability to uptake oxygen," but there is no antiviral for people with EV-D68, he said.
"A lot of this is still under investigation, and these investigations can take weeks," Pallansch said.
HOW WIDESPREAD IS EV-D68?
The CDC was first notified Aug. 19 of 19 patients in Kansas City, Mo., and a few days later of 11 patients in Chicago. Since then, reported cases have not been confined to the Midwest.

• In the 10 cases in Colorado of muscle weakness or paralysis, the children are being treated at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora.
That hospital has treated more than 2,500 children for severe respiratory illnesses from mid-August to mid-September, with nearly 10% admitted for hospital stays, said Ann-Christine Nyquist, medical director of infection prevention and control at the hospital, in an interview with the American Academy of Family Physicians.
The CDC confirmed 19 of 25 specimens from the hospital tested positive for EV-D68, as of Sept. 15, Nyquist told AAFP.

This 2007 photo provided by the Children's Hospital Colorado shows the facility in Aurora, Colo. On Sept. 26, 2014, the CDC said it is investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in children at the hospital, and whether the culprit might be enterovirus 68 which is causing severe respiratory illness across the country.(Photo: AP)
• In Texas, 10 cases have been confirmed in Dallas County and one in Denton County, reports WFAA-TV.
"It is taking us three-to-four times longer to break the wheezing," said Jim Allard, director of pediatric services at Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas, in an interview with the station.
• In New Jersey, about 30 children have been hospitalized at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune since mid-September, reports The Asbury Park Press.
But many improved "dramatically within several days," said Steven Kairys, chairman of pediatrics at the medical center. As of Thursday, the CDC had confirmed one case of the virus but is testing dozens more in the state, the Asbury Park Press reports.
Last week, a 4-year-old boy in Hamilton, N.J., died of an unidentified respiratory illness, but it's unclear yet if EV-D68 can be blamed for the death, reports The Times of Trenton.

Pandemics Are Entering the US Through the Southern Border
Posted on June 29, 2014 by Dave Hodges

America is facing a health crisis of unparalleled proportions. We could be weeks away from an outbreak of several pandemics on our southern border which will lead to the United Nations emerging as a legitimized police force operating within the territorial boundaries of the United States, ostensibly here to meet the crisis.
Do the Arts Imitate Life, Or Is It the Other Way Around?
Do you believe in predictive programming? Or, when Hollywood airs something that could very likely lie in our immediate future, do you just chalk it up to being merely a coincidence? TNT has purchased 10 episodes of the new series, The Last Ship, a Michael Bay production.
The show is based upon the premise that after a global pandemic kills over 50% of the world’s population, the crew of an unaffected U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer must try to find a cure and stop the virus in order to save the entire population of the planet.
Two civilian virologists, Dr. Rachel Scott and Quincy Tophet, claiming to be studying birds, join Captain Tom Chandler and crew aboard the USS Nathan James on their way to the Arctic. Rogue Russian forces attack them, and Chandler learns the virologists are actually collecting samples of a deadly virus that has wiped out over half the human population while they have been at sea for four months. The crew and its officers are unaware of the spreading pandemic because they have been forced to remain in radio silence while on their mission. What is left of the decimated U.S. government orders the ship home, but those aboard the ship realize home does not exist as they knew it. The safest place to develop a vaccine to this deadly pandemic is on their ship on the open seas. During the course of the first episode, Dr. Scott informs the Captain that the progression of the virus has skipped a sequence in its evolution which strongly suggests that they are dealing with a weaponized virus and which has been deliberately put into play by a rogue group.
Below is the official trailer for the series. The same danger is brewing on our southern border and is threatening to spread with the same vengeance. After watching the following trailer, ask your self, is this well-publicized new show a case of predictive programming or just one heck of a coincidence to what could likely lie ahead as result of our border crisis?
When my father’s family came through immigration into this country, they were quarantined and examined for diseases and viruses. This was standard operating procedure in dealing with past immigrant populations. However, within the present border crisis, scores of immigrants are not being medically examined and they are being put on planes and transported throughout the United States.
The Hint of a Coming Pandemic(s) to the United States
Phoenix’s ABC affiliate, Channel 15, ran a story on June 6, 2014 in which the producers reported from McCallen, Texas. The news story expressed a serious and growing concern with regard to illegal immigrants crossing into the United States and the potential deadly health concerns associated with this mass migration. The report interviewed several U.S. Border Patrol agents who are gravely concerned about what’s coming over the border. What is coming according to Border Patrol agents are not just immigrants, but pathogens, constituted in the form of a viral outbreak, which could cause serious harm in the United States.
The Channel 15 report quoted Chris Cabrera, a Border Patrol agent, who stated “We are sending people everywhere. The average person doesn’t know what’s going on down here”. Cabrera stated that Border Patrol agents are seeing illegal immigrants come over the border “with contagious infections”. Specifically Cabrera stated that “There’s been an outbreak of scabies that’s been going on for the past month”.

Dr. Jane Orient
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart, Dr. Jane Orient, an internal medicine specialist and the Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), stated that by admitting these huge groups of children who come from countries where medical screenings are minimal and hygiene is poor, the United States is at risk for epidemics of serious diseases and viruses that the nation has not seen in years and for which we have no immunity.
Well, this is America and of course we are screening these people right? Not according to Border Patrol agent Cabrera where he again told Channel 15 “..the sickness doesn’t stop at scabies… We are starting to see chicken pox, MRSA staph infections and we are starting to see different viruses.” In other words, the Border Patrol does not understand what they are dealing with. This is an unmitigated disaster in the making.
DHS Plays Dumb
DHS has denied Breitbart’s requests for interviews with doctors and medical staff treating sick immigrants. DHS also denied Breitbart’s request to tour their medical facilities in which they are treating sick immigrants. What are they hiding? Breitbart’s staff is merely asking to inspect a public facility that is tax supported.
Breitbart released the following DHS statement:“DHS has public health controls in place to minimize any possible health risks. Throughout the RGV Sector we are conducting public health screens on all incoming detainees to screen for any symptoms of contagious diseases of possible public health concern. U.S. Border Patrol has established Medical Units at its busiest border stations (McAllen, Weslaco, and Ft Brown) handling UAC. US Coast Guard medical teams are assisting with the screening process, and providing health care evaluations for the sick and injured.
Occupational health and safety guidance has been provided to for CBP personnel in the handling of subjects with signs of health-related symptoms. Our workforce has been provided and encouraged to use personal protective gear including latex or non-latex gloves, long-sleeve shirts, and to take precaution including frequent hand washing”.
What DHS fails to explain away is that many of these immigrants are transported to a remote location within hours of being detained and we are to believe that each and everyone of them has gone through an extensive and complete health screening.
Does that also include analyzing blood and other bodily fluids? Because that is the only way to be certain that one is not a carrier of a deadly virus. Further, many pathogens and viruses have a well-defined incubation period prior to a person becoming symptomatic. DHS is either incredibly ignorant or, there are other forces at work here. Further, why is it DHS defending the health screening practices and not the Center for Disease Control (CDC)? DHS is a national police force, not a a medical investigative body! Something is terribly wrong with this scenario.
When a Pandemic Arrives At the Southern Border, Nobody Will Be Looking!
In the aforementioned ABC report, Border Agent, Chris Carbrera, also stated that DHS summoned Coast Guard medics to help treat detained immigrants who are sick. Again, DHS is not qualified or staffed to make medical calls with regard to what medics may or may not diagnose. Do you know what it takes to become a medic in the military? It takes minimal training and the ability to inject a wounded man with morphine. Coast Guard medics, in lieu of CDC expert doctors, are not trained in outbreak diagnoses and subsequent containment. In short, this gross incompetence and under-response to a potential health crisis that is not being dealt with.
There are diseases and viruses coming into this country are so obscure and so virulent, that most of today’s doctors, who have never seen the symptoms, would probably misdiagnose them anyway. It is a certain fact that no medic or DHS personnel will make a proper diagnosis of a pathogen which could lead to a pandemic. Who says that this is true?
The Experts Speak but Nobody Is Listening
In the same interview with Breitbart, Dr. Jane Orient stated that, “Tuberculosis (TB) is the single most dangerous disease because
it is highly contagious and can be easily picked up at the mall, at a school, or on the bus… Cases coming from south of the U.S. border can be very resistant to medications. They don’t respond to traditional antibiotics, and the few drugs they may respond to are often toxic, with lots of side effects… Legal immigrants have always been required to undergo health screenings Orient continued, “but these kids coming have no medical screenings… They’re likely coming here with a number of infectious diseases that will spread like wildfire.”
Interviewed by The Monitor, Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet, stated that the immigrants coming across the U.S. border, from countries which have third world health care and primitive screening, we will find many immigrants carrying the highly contagious and deadly TB as well as measles. She also expects to see a multitude of hepatitis, malaria, Chagas disease, a parasitic infection, and dengue fever cases. Dr. Vliet conclusively stated that “A public health crisis, the likes of which I have not seen in my lifetime, is looming”.
Border Patrol agent, Chris Cabrera heightens the health concerns when he describes the quarantine procedures at the detention centers. He told ABC that the symptomatic people are moved to one side of the facility and they are only separated by a yellow tape from the so-called healthy immigrants. Cabrera also stated that SEVERAL Border Patrol agents are often infected with scabies. The spread of these pandemics has likely already begun. Meanwhile, these immigrants, meaning no harm to America, are being transported by DHS and ICE all across the country. This is how one creates asymptomatic carriers of deadly diseases.

MIA at the border. Why?
Will Ebola Be Part of This Invasion?
I have received two reports of hospital emergency rooms posting the symptoms of Ebola on their walls. One of my sources is a reporter who does not yet want to go on the record. The other is a hospital employee who is afraid of losing her job. I would like to hear from anyone who can provide me with proof that this occurring. The reason that I am asking is because in 2008, Jesus Esquivel reported that the Mexican drug cartels had formed a working relationship with Hamas, Hezbollah and other radical Islamic groups have become working associates. Esquivel also implicated the CIA as being involved as well. Is it so far-fetched to fear that ISIS, Hamas, Hezbollah would transport deadly diseases, including Ebola into the United States?

Again, back to predictive programming, this scenario was at one time the central plot of an entire season of the Fox TV show, 24, in season three, in which the main character, Jack Bauer, was tasked to intercept a virus attack directed at the U.S.
Ebola is on the move in Africa where is has spread to seven countries. Further, many main airports, such as in London, are accepting travelers from these countries. From this point, the travelers are dispatched all over the world.
The UN and Looming Health Crisis
In the past week, I have written extensively about the growing presence of UN military vehicles on our soil. I have also speculated as to what would lead to the emergence and the “legitimization” of the UN operating as a police force on American soil. A pandemic would absolutely meet these qualifications.

There are still many open questions, but we have a lot to be concerned about!

Rhode Island Child Dies From Enterovirus
October 1, 2014 11:06 AM
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (CBS Connecticut/AP) — The Rhode Island health department says a child has died from complications of an unusual respiratory virus that has been affecting children across the U.S.
Health officials said Wednesday that the child died last week of a staph infection associated with the enterovirus 68 infection.
Department spokeswoman Christina Batastini said there have been no deaths in Rhode Island directly attributed to the enterovirus 68 infection. Batastini said she could not say where the child lived or was treated.
Mild cases of the 68 infection can cause fever, runny nose and coughs but severe ones can lead to difficulty breathing. The strain isn’t new but it’s rarely seen.
AFP reports more than 400 children nationwide have been sickened by the enterovirus. Health officials are investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado due to the virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week sent doctors an alert about the polio-like cases and said the germ — enterovirus 68 — was detected in four out of eight of the sick children who had a certain medical test. The status of the ninth case is unclear.

“And then it can become a persistent infection in the lungs,” infectious disease expert John Chia told CBS Los Angeles. “Or it can go through the blood stream and reach the central nervous system. That’s how I think poliomyelitis occurred in those cases.”
The CDC has been testing a limited number of specimens from very sick children around the country, and as of Thursday reported 277 people in 40 states and the District of Columbia with enterovirus 68.

CDC: 4 People With Enterovirus D68 Have Died
By Brenda Goodman, MA

AUDIO - 4 PEOPLE HAVE DIED FROM Enterovirus D68
Four people have died after catching enterovirus D68, according to the CDC. It’s unclear what role the virus played in their deaths, though.
State and local health departments “are continuing to investigate,” says CDC spokeswoman Darlene Foote in an e-mail to WebMD.
One of the people, a child, died last week in Rhode Island, according to the state Department of Health. The child had a Staph infection in addition to enterovirus D68, and died from sepsis, a buildup of toxic chemicals in the bloodstream.
In a press release, health officials say the combination is rare.
The Boston Globe reports that the child was a 10-year-old girl. She died within a day of developing symptoms.
"We are all heartbroken to hear about the death of one of Rhode Island's children," says Michael Fine, MD, director of the Rhode Island Department of Health.
But he says the circumstances of the death were unusual, and most children recover without any complications. "Many of us will have EV-D68. Most of us will have very mild symptoms and all but very few will recover quickly and completely."
Local health departments have not released information on the other three deaths.
