Border Patrol agents found 31 immigrants along the Rio Grande near Hidalgo on Thursday.

In a news release, the agency says the immigrants were made up of families and unaccompanied children from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

All of them were offered medical help and then taken to a processing center.

The Border Patrol says it has several campaigns focusing on making others aware of the dangers of smuggling. “Operation Big Rig” ask residents to call in any human smuggling attempts to 9-1-1.

Huh? They have to be processed. How else are we going to know when an illegal does a felony return?

Border Patrol knows how to enter their names into the computer when they deport them, they do it every day. There's no need for them to be detained and processed by DOJ.

The DOJ doesn't process or detain illegal immigrants.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is responsible for prosecuting illegal immigrants that are referred to them. Processing and detaining is not in their realm of responsibilities.

DHS, specifically U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is responsible for the detention of the illegal immigrants they encounter and arrest in the course of their own investigations and special operations. They are also responsible for the detention of illegals turned over to them by the Border Patrol. Of course some of the detention of illegals is contracted out.

Border Patrol is responsible for processing the illegals caught between the ports of entry before they're turned over to ICE.

There is more involved in the processing then just simply putting a name into a computer. If what you're saying was true, just any old alias would do.

The actual processing includes photographing, fingerprinting, check for identifying marks such as tatoos, scars and birthmarks. As part of the processing a background check is also completed.

Ok, then let ICE do all that and then bump them back to Border Patrol to bump them back where they came from. Stay away from the prosecuting. LOG EM IN WITH WHATEVER YOU CAN GET AND DEPORT THEM.
