    Hazleton Latinos get it right
I'm sorry. You seem to be implying that we now should give some sort of credence because of a marketing ploy? You can dress it up and tell it to moo but it will still quack. We understood loud & clear the first time. Americans may be dumb but we ain't stupid.

A couple of months ago, I went to a pro-immigration rally at the Lackawanna County Courthouse.

The protesters carried signs printed in Spanish. They chanted in Spanish. They waved Mexican flags.

Initially, it was hoped the showers would be light and brief. But as umbrellas appeared, the rain got heavier. For a while, it poured. Lopez used a megaphone to announce the vigil would go on.
God spoke and the law passed! Got to love it.

Below is the letter I just sent off to CJones.

    Dear CJones:

I read your article, and sadly, it seems neither you, nor the Latino's of Hazelton GET IT. The whole debate right now is not about RACE, it's not about Latino's, but about those who are in our country ILLEGALLY. Sadly, a large number of those who are here illegally are also of Latino decent, and I find it sad that the Hispanic community of Hazelton, and the larger Hispanic community here in America have chosen to make this issue a racial one.

The average wages of lower and middle income families because of illegal workers in the job market have been depressed by over eight percent, but reporters do not write about that. Many home owners (myself included) have seen our property values depressed because some absentee landlord opted to rent to illegal aliens because he/she can charge by the head, and make more money...do you know what it is like to have to live next to what was once a beautiful duplex that now has 30-40 people living in it? Do you care, and if you do, why do we not read these human interest stories in the daily paper?

This debate has two sides, and sadly the press seems bent on only sharing one of them with America's citizens, and that from my perspective is a true crime.
