Reid on Senate schedule: 'We need to stay here until we finish'

Inclement weather could postpone a highly anticipated Senate vote Monday on President Obama's tax cuts deal.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said poor weather conditions could keep senators from making it to Washington in time for a 3 p.m. vote on the tax cut deal.

Reid said, in particular, one senator was having difficulty leaving Minneapolis, where a storm this weekend dumped more than a dozen of inches of snow on the area.

A delayed vote could add to an already busy and hectic week for the Senate, which has set a target of Friday to adjourn.

Republicans have demanded a vote on tax cuts precede the other issues before the Senate. Among those issues include the New START treaty and the DREAM Act.

Reid wouldn't commit Monday to adjourning on Friday; he'd said last week that no senators were interested in working all the way until Christmas Eve, as the Senate did last year to pass the healthcare reform bill.

"We need to stay here until we finish," Reid said Monday.

They bounced their little bottoms out of there without addressing the tax INCREASE on all Americans fast enough.

The Republicans need to, for once, really obstruct them. They have been accused of it long enough when they weren't even being consulted, so they should just refuse to pass anything until the new Congress is seated. JMO

Looks like there is some backroom shananigans going on.

It's probably all going to be backroom shenanigans until the next Congress convenes.

A lame duck Congress should be limited to what they can do, such as only emergency legislation imo.

I totally and 100% agree. Republicans need to stop talking to these stupid DemoQuacks and just take care of business in January.

The repubs get their tax cuts and the dems get their amnesty. I hope to God this is not how it plays out!
